directors' note

A Note from the Director:

Greetings from Elm City ChamberFest! As the Founder and Artistic Director of ECCF, I would like to introduce you to our program and share with you some of the exciting events that are in store for our sixth season in 2010.  Elm City ChamberFest was founded in 2005, in downtown New Haven.  The goal of ECCF is to provide the New Haven Community with a top quality educational chamber music program for young students, as well as to bring world class performing artists to the area in the summertime.  It is the ECCF philosophy that a well-rounded chamber music experience comes from an exposure to a variety of art forms, which is why we have incorporated classes from various other musical genres as well as various movement and theater classes into our curriculum.  We strive to maintain a student to faculty ratio of 5 to 1, allowing for both the students and faculty to focus on strengthening basic ensemble skills while achieving the highest level of music making possible.  In addition to daily coachings and weekly lessons with our esteemed faculty, we have a series of guest artist master classes and lessons that are also part of our students’ weekly schedules. Rounding out our action packed weeks, we have two well-attended faculty concerts that combine our highly accomplished full-time faculty with our prominent guest artists, creating an evening of world-class performances.
I am excited to announce for 2010 the return of our popular guest artists the Soyulla Ensemble, duoJalal (formerly Lockwood/Sheronick Project) and the beloved pianist and composer, Joan Panetti. Additionally, Klezmer violinist, Cookie Segelstein of Veretski Pass will join us for an exciting evening of performances on one of our faculty concerts as well as teaching our student Klezmer workshop.

I hope that in addition to downloading an application, you can take a moment to read more about the ECCF faculty, guest artists and upcoming 2010 concert schedule, or browse through our sample schedules and photo gallery.

Sincerely,
Fiona Murray
