A Note from the Directors:
Greetings from Elm City ChamberFest! As the Cofounders and Directors of ECCF, we would like to introduce you to our program and to share with you some of the exciting events we have planned for this upcoming 2008 season. In 2005, we founded our organization in collaboration with Neighborhood Music School in downtown New Haven. Our goal is to provide the New Haven Community with a top quality educational chamber music program for young students, as well as to bring world class performing artists to the area in the summertime. We believe that a well-rounded chamber music experience comes from an exposure to a variety of art forms, which is why we incorporate classes from various other musical genres as well as movement classes into our curriculum. We strive to maintain a student to faculty ratio of 5 to 1, allowing for students and faculty to focus on strengthening basic ensemble skills while achieving the highest level of music making possible. In addition to daily coachings and weekly lessons with our esteemed faculty, we have a series of Guest Master Classes that are also part of our student’s weekly schedule. To round out our action packed weeks, we have two well-attended faculty concerts that combine our highly accomplished full-time faculty with our prominent guest artists to create an evening of world-class performances.
We are excited to announce the addition of acclaimed violinist Kyu-Young Kim to our list of eminent guest artists in the summer of 2008. Mr. Kim will be joining us for a violin and chamber music master class as well as performing on our faculty concert with his trio, the Soyulla Ensemble. Some other additions to our growing curriculum will be a theater improvisation class as well as a dance class – just to keep everybody on their toes!
We hope that you will enjoy browsing our new web site! In addition to downloading an application, don’t forget to read all about our faculty and upcoming performances, take a look at our sample schedules and visit our photo gallery.
Sincerely,
Miriam Eckelhoefer and Fiona Murray
